Updated Processing Times for Skills in Demand (SID) Visas (Subclass 482)

The Department of Home Affairs has announced an updated processing times for Skills in Demand (Subclass 482) visas. Applicants and sponsors can now take note of the update on the Immigration website. 

What are the Key Updates for the SID Processing Times? 

There has been a considerable increase in processing times compared to previous estimates. The Department now estimates 90% of visa applications will be processed within:

These numbers have increased substantially from the previous advised median processing times of 7 days for Specialist Skills stream and 21 days for Core Skills stream.

Is there a way to ask for Escalation Requests? 

Given the updated processing times, the Department advises that escalation requests will only be actioned for applications exceeding these new processing timelines (39 days for Specialist Skills and 47 days for Core Skills). Applications currently within these timelines will not be escalated.
