What Visa Can I Apply for If I'm On a Bridging Visa E (SC050)?

If you are holding a Bridging Visa E (BVE) (Subclass 050), there are strict restrictions on what visas you can apply for while in Australia. Additionally, you may also be subjected to further issues such as section 48 bar and/or PIC 4013

What Visa Can I Apply for While Holding a BVE?

Onshore Partner Visa (Subclass 820/801)

You may apply Onshore Partner Visa (SC 820/801). However, you will need to demonstrate your ongoing and genuine relationship with an Australian citizen, permanent resident (PR) or an eligible New Zealand citizen. Additionally, meet schedule 3 criteria, which requires you to explain the reason you did not hold a substantive visa. This visa leads to a permanent residency (PR) pathway.

Medical Treatment Visa (MTV) (Subclass 602)

If you are in need of medical treatment in Australia, then you may be eligible for the Medical Treatment (Subclass 602) visa while holding a BVE. You have to show the demand for receiving ongoing treatment in Australia that is unavailable in your home country.

Protection Visa (Subclass 866)

If you have a genuine fear of persecution or harm in your home country, you may be eligible to apply for a Protection Visa (Subclass 866) while holding a BVE. This visa leads to a PR pathway.
