How Much Does the Employer Need to Pay for Skills in Demand (SID) (SC482)?
The Skills in Demand (SID) visa (Subclass 482) is an employer-sponsored visa that allows skilled workers to fill roles where employers face genuine skill shortages in Australia. The employer must cover specific costs. The SID visa process has three stages: Sponsorship, Nomination, and Application.
Sponsorship
If the employer has yet to obtain a Standard Business Sponsorship (SBS) or their SBS has passed the 5 year validity. The employer will be required to apply for an SBS to sponsor someone to work for the business on an SID (SC 482) or a Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional visa (Subclass 494). The fee for a SBS is AUD 420.

Nomination
The employer has to nominate the worker and the occupation you nominate must be on the Core Skills Occupation List (CSOL). There may be some caveats that apply to some occupations that must be met to be eligible for SID Visa. The nomination fee for the SID Subclass 482 visa is AUD 330.
There is a Skilling Australians Fund (SAF) Levy that is payable to the Department. The SAF Levy depends on the business turnover and the employee's proposed period of stay. The levy payments are tax deductible.
For small businesses with an annual turnover of less than $10 million, their SAF Levy fee will be AUD 1,200 per year.
For businesses with an annual turnover of more than $10 million, the SAF Levy fee is AUD 1,800 per year.
In addition, the applicant must be paid at least the annual market salary rate (AMSR) and an annual salary of less than AUD 250,000. For example, for this financial year from 1 July 2024 to 30 June 2025, the Core Skills Income Threshold (CSIT) is at least AUD 73,150, and the Specialist Skills Income Threshold (SSIT) is at least AUD 135,000.
