How Many Times Can I Sponsor a Partner Visa?
To apply for a Partner Visa, the applicant will require a sponsor to complete the visa application process. It may be worth checking if your partner, the sponsor has a sponsorship history. As a sponsor, there are some limitations on how often an individual can sponsor someone on a Partner Visa to prevent misusing the system.
What are the Sponsorship Limitations?
An individual has to be an Australian citizen, permanent resident (PR) or an eligible New Zealand citizen. The sponsor can sponsor up to 2 Partner Visa applications during their lifetime. Additionally, regardless of the visa grant, there is a 5-year gap between the date of the previous sponsorship and the new sponsorship.
What if I want to Sponsor for a 3rd time? Is that possible?
The Department of Home Affairs may consider granting an exemption in specific circumstances with compelling and compassionate reasons, such as a new relationship involving children. If you are to sponsor again for the third time, it is highly recommended to speak with an Immigration Lawyer who specialises in this area of law for a creative strategy to achieve your goal.
