What do I need to apply for a visa under General Skill Migration?
The key requirements to apply for a visa under the GSM program are:
English test: Applicant must obtain a "Superior" or equivalent English language test result.
Positive skills assessment:
The applicant must obtain a positive skills assessment from the relevant assessing authority.
The skills assessment will only consider work experience from the past 5 years.
Lodge an Expression of Interest (EOI):
Applicant needs to lodge an Expression of Interest (EOI) in the SkillSelect system.
This is the first step to be considered for an invitation to apply for a visa.
Meet the minimum points score:
Applicant needs to achieve a minimum of 65 points to be eligible. Applicants can accumulate points based on age, qualifications, work experience, etc.
For the Subclass 190 and 491 visas, additional points can be earned through state/territory nomination.
Receive an invitation to apply:
After lodging the EOI, the applicant needs to wait for an invitation from the government to apply for the visa.
Invitations are issued periodically based on the highest-ranked EOIs.
