Permanent Skilled Regional Visa Subclass 191 to Commence on 16 November 2022

The Permanent Residence Skilled Regional visa (subclass 191) is a permanent visa that will commence from 16 November 2022. Migrants who have lived, worked and studied in a designated regional area in Australia on a previous eligible visa will be able to apply for permanent residency under this visa scheme.

 

What Can You Do With the Subclass 191 Visa?

The subclass 191 visa is a permanent residency visa. The Applicant will be eligible to:

  • stay permanently in Australia

  • work or study anywhere in Australia

  • apply for Australian citizenship, should they meet the requirements

  • entitled to Medicare (public health care system), sponsor eligible family members to come to Australia and to travel indefinitely.

 

Are You Eligible for the Permanent Regional Skilled Subclass 191 Visa?

To be eligible for the subclass 191 visa the applicant must:

  • hold an eligible visa (this includes a regional provisional visa subclass 491 or subclass 494)

  • must have lived for at least 3 years in a designated regional area

  • have had a taxable income at or above a specific income threshold for at least three years while holding your eligible visa. Both primary and secondary applicants must have complied with the conditions of the eligible visa.

 

What is the application process for Subclass 191 visa?

If the applicant satisfies the above-mentioned criteria, then an application can be made through an immi account. During the application process, the applicant and their dependants can be in or outside Australia.

 

What other eligibility requirements are taken into consideration?

To be fully eligible for this visa, along with the above-mentioned criteria, the applicants must al

  1. satisfy health requirements

  2. satisfy character requirements

  3. repay any remaining debts, that is owed by the applicant or any family member, to the Australian Government

  4. must not have a previous application refused or a previous visa cancelled
