SC482 Core Skills Income Threshold (CSIT): Understanding and Meeting the Requirement

The Skills in Demand (SID) (Subclass 482) visa allows individuals to live and work in Australia, but it has specific requirements. For the SID (SC 482)—Core Skills stream, applicants must meet the Core Skills Income Threshold (CSIT).

 

What is the Core Skills Income Threshold (CSIT)? 

The CSIT is a minimum annual income level that Core Skills stream applicants for SID (Subclass 482) visa must meet. It is designed to ensure that overseas workers are paid at least the same as their Australian peers in similar roles. This helps to protect Australian workers and ensure fair labour practices. 

What is the Current CSIT?  

The CSIT is not a fixed number. The current CSIT for Core Skill stream SC482 visa for this financial year from 1 July 2024 to 30 June 2025 is at least AUD 73,150

Can I receive a Higher salary than the CSIT? 

Yes, an employer can offer a salary above the CSIT. The salary offered does not have to be exactly the CSIT amount. Additionally, offering a higher salary can strengthen the application and further support the genuineness of the employment offer. Additionally, there are some nominated occupations that have caveat(s) attached which requires the visa applicant and their employers to be aware of.

 

How to Meet the CSIT? 

Meeting the CSIT involves demonstrating that you earn or will earn at least the specified minimum annual income in your nominated occupation. You will need to provide supporting evidence such as payslips, employment contracts and more.
