South Australian: DAMA Consultations and General Skilled Migration Announcement
What is Changing with South Australia’s DAMA Agreement?
The South Australian Government entered into two Designated Area Migration Agreements (DAMAs) in April 2019: the Adelaide Technology and Innovation Advancement Agreement and the South Australian Regional Workforce Agreement. Both DAMAs were extended for an additional year and are due to cease in June 2025.
The consultation process is now open to gather input that will guide the South Australian Government's strategy for negotiations regarding a new iteration of the South Australian Designated Area Migration Agreement (DAMA) for the year 2025. In the near future, the South Australian Government will initiate discussions with the Australian Federal Government to establish this updated version of the DAMA.
Businesses, industry associations, and other stakeholders in South Australia are encouraged to provide feedback on the new DAMA. The Department of State Development, Strategic Policy, and Migration welcomes written comments until 31 December 2024.
General Skilled Migration- Unprecedented levels of ROIs for certain occupations
South Australia’s 2024-2025 General Skilled Migration (GSM) Program for Skilled Nominated Visa (Subclass 190) Visa and Skilled Work Regional (Subclass 491) Visa has observed an unprecedented influx of Registration of Interest (ROI) applications for the following occupations:
Chef
Motor Mechanic (General)
Enrolled Nurse
At present, the number of submitted ROIs for these occupations surpasses the quota established by South Australian Skilled and Business Migration (SBM). In light of this heightened interest, SBM advises both current and prospective applicants in these fields to explore alternative visa options, such as the South Australian DAMA Program.
Upcoming Invitation Rounds for South Australia GSM
The South Australian Skilled and Business Migration will continue to issue invitations to clients who are residing and working in South Australia on a weekly basis, covering all eligible occupations.
