Immigration and Citizenship Programs Update For Visa Processing Times
The 13th edition of the Administration of the Immigration and Citizenship Programs Paper from the Department of Home Affairs is now available.
What is the Latest Visa Processing Time for 2024-2025?
The paper highlights the processing of temporary and permanent visas lodged in the first quarter of 2024–25 (between 1 July 2024 and 30 September 2024).
Temporary visa finalisation: The Department successfully finalised just under 92% of temporary visa applications submitted during the most recent quarter and over 97% of those submitted within the preceding 12 months.
Permanent visa finalisation: Regarding the permanent visa program, 52% of applications were lodged and finalized in the first quarter, while 60% were finalized within the last 12 months.
Additionally, the paper observes that for the year 2024–25 so far, median processing times have increased across most demand-driven visa categories compared to the same timeframe in 2023–24. The paper specifically highlights the following visa categories:
Partner Visa (Subclass 820/309) (First Stage): increasing from 6 months to 11 months
Student Visa (Subclass 500): increasing from 17 days to 52 days
Temporary Resident (Skilled) Visas Subclass 482 / Subclass 491: increasing from 18 days to 44 days
